Laughlin Poker Run

Rules and Reg’s

This will be the 6th annual Laughlin Poker Run. It will incorporate 3 No-Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments. The tournaments will be held in different casinos in Laughlin Nevada. Each participant is responsible to pay for their entry into all three tournaments plus an additional $100 that goes into the pot for the Poker Run Prize Money.

Point System.

Every tournament will be scored the same. Points will be given for the number of people you beat during a tournament. Additional points will be given to people who reach the final 10 positions. The following represents bonus points awarded for top tournament finishes.

1st = 20% of entry bonus

2nd = 18% of entry bonus

3rd = 15% of entry bonus

4th = 10% of entry bonus

5th = 9% of entry bonus

6th = 8% of entry bonus

7th = 6% of entry bonus

8th = 5% of entry bonus

9th = 4% of entry bonus

10th = 3% of entry bonus

(ALL BONUS POINTS ARE ROUNDED UP TO THE NEXT TENTH POSITION)

The number of entries into a tournament will include the amount of players plus any additional re-buys or add ons. If there are 20 people in a tournament and 7 re-buy, then we count 27 entrants for the bases of bonus points. All numbers will be rounded up to the next tenth position. Add-Ons to initial chips or Bonuses will not be considered as an additional player and thus will not be added to total players. If a casino allows Re-Buys to players without being eliminated it will not count as an additional player. This will be considered an Ad-On not a Re-buy. A Re-buy consists of being eliminated and then brought back into the tournament.

I believe that all three tournaments played DO NOT have Re-buys equivalent with Poker Run Rule Standards. Although the casino may call it a “Re-buy” these are actually just Add-Ons. A total number of entrants will be announced within the first hour of play. That number will stay consistent throughout that casino tournament as the basis of points regardless of how many Add-Ons there are. If they allow for alternates or late entries those new players will be included in the total player count.

Splitting the Win.

If at any time players elect to split the final table winnings then points will be assessed comparable to the lowest remaining position. If there are four people wanting to split the pot at the end then you would get points comparable to a 4th place finish. To establish points you have to beat people, not tie. This also means that if there are other Poker Run players at a table that split the winnings, regardless of chip count, each remaining player will receive the same amount of points.

“YOU HAVE TO BEAT SOMEONE TO EARN POINTS”

Example Poker Run Finish:

 100 entrants into Tournament #1. You finish 15th over all. Which means there are 14 people left in the tournament.

                        100 – 14 = 86 points

                        No bonus given.

            25 people in Tournament #2. You finish 1st over all.

                        25 – 0 = 25 points

                        Bonus 20% of 25 entrants = 5 points

                        5 + 25 = 30 points this tournament

35 people in Tournament #3. You split the pot with the remaining 4 players = 5th over all, 4 people left in tournament.

                        35 – 4 = 31 points

                        Bonus 9% of 35 = 3.15 = 3.2 Points (rounded up)

                        31 + 3.2 = 34.2 points

TOTAL POINTS = 86+30+34.2 = 150.2 points

The entire tournament will cost $100 entry fee + tournament entry fees.

Crowning a Champion

After all three tournaments are completed we will rank all players from highest to lowest points. The player with the most points through all three tournaments will be crowned Laughlin Poker Run Champion and receive a cash prize plus the trophy for a year. Additional pay outs for 2nd, 3rd and so on will be announced before the first tournament begins depending on the number of people involved.

Additional Rules:

  1. Entry fee money and 1st tournament money must be turned in BEFORE the first tournament or participant will not qualify for any winnings.
  2. Every participant must have a witness or pit boss signature to sign off their final position of each tournament. Participant’s witness must sign off on the scoreboard to verify position and points.
  3. No bitching. Dave Charette, Bill Meyer and Greg Hearn will take a vote on any controversial issues with rules and or point system. They will have final say.
